Who is Aysun Timurcan?
Born in 1967 in Karadeniz Ereğli.

During her primary and secondary school years, she received mandolin and music lessons from Neslihan Evişen, a music teacher at Gazi University. She later turned to guitar. In 1985, she took her first steps into the professional music world by reaching the finals of the "Marmaris Festival Composition Competition."

In 1987, she released her album "Aysun Ayrılık," which featured lyrics and music by Timurcan, through Ada Plak. She also made her first Istanbul appearance with artist Esin Afşar, accompanying her on guitar and vocals.

Timurcan's composition "Madenci," performed by Esin Afşar, was included in Afşar’s album "Ruhi Su'ya Türkü."

In 1989, she was admitted to the Opera and Vocal Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory, where she received vocal training from Gül Sabar, a lecturer and vocal artist.

From 1989 to 1993, she served as a soprano chorus member under the direction of Yaşua Aroyo in the Istanbul Chamber Choir. Due to vocal cord issues, she had to halt her education. In 1990, she formed a music group called "Dost Yürek," and with her academically supported group, she conducted numerous high-quality musical performances reaching into the 2000s.

Her second album "Bir Kadın Var Anadolu’da" was released by Kalan Müzik in 1993, and in 1999, her third album titled "Aze" was released by Klip Müzik under the name "Grup Dost Yürek."

In 1999, the album "Köprüler" from Ada Plak included her instrumental piece "Aze," performed by "Dost Yürek." In this instrumental album, Grup Dost Yürek collaborated with Erkan Oğur, Doğan Canku, Bekir Küçükay, Ahu Sağlam, Ahmet Koç, Adil Arslan, Mazlum Çimen, and Erdal Güney.

In addition to music, Timurcan is also interested in visual arts and has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions.

Living in İzmir since 2001, she has conducted numerous artistic activities in İzmir and its surroundings. Besides painting exhibitions, performances, and concerts, Timurcan has also worked on film music, including composing for the short film "Kırılgan." This film, created in collaboration with faculty members from the Ege University Department of Cinema and Television, marked the beginning of her involvement in similar projects.

Believing that children are the potential artists of the future, Timurcan has worked as a branch teacher in various institutions and private schools, focusing on music, visual arts, theater, drama, folklore, and handicrafts for young age groups. She participated as a game creator in the "Child and Museum" project prepared by İzmir Guides Association (İZRO) in 2004, and conducted a joint drama work related to the history of Bergama–Allianoi Ancient City with five- and six-year-old children from four kindergartens in the 2005–2006 period.
